What you have to consider after the surgical procedure?

Behaviour after the surgical procedure:
Basically, you should follow the same rules after an implantation as you would do after a normal tooth extraction.

Rinsing:
With surgical procedures at the oral cavity has the effect of dissolving thrombae which protects the wound after the operation . Secondary haemorrhage can be the consequence. If you do the rinsing, then do it without pressure and earliest on the first day after the operation. It is recommandable to use anti-microbic means like chlorhexidine.

Pain killers:
Shall be taken right after the surgical procedure to avert pain. Implantations are normally less painful than tooth extractions.

Hypertension:
Increases the risk of secondary haemorrhage. If you have pain, your blood pressure will rise. That is why you should take painkillers right after the operation.

Dental care:
Do not neglect dental care, especially after surgical procedures at the oral cavity. You should start with dental care on the very first day after the operation.

Smoking:
Endagers the the process of healing, not only by the smoke but most of all by the negative pressure in the oral cavity. Especially at procedures at the upper jaw, there can be disturbances in the healing process.

Cooling:
Is the most effective protection against wound swelling. Please do not use ice as it might harm the skin.
